A bun is a type of hairstyle wherein the hair is pulled back from the face, twisted or plaited, and wrapped in a circular coil around itself, typically on top or back of the head or just above the neck. A bun can be secured with a barrette, bobby pins, one or more hair sticks, a hairnet, or a pen or pencil. Hair may also be wrapped around a piece called a 'rat'.Alternatively, hair bun inserts, or sometimes rolled up socks, may also be used to create donut-shaped buns.Buns may be tightly gathered, or loose and more informal.
A bob cut or bob is a short haircut for women (and occasionally men) in which the hair is typically cut straight around the head at about jaw-level, often with a fringe (or 'bangs') at the front.
A crown braid or crown plait is a traditional Ukrainian hairstyle usually worn by women with long hair. It consists of a single braid wrapped around the head, and is the trademark hairstyle worn by Ukrainian politician Yulia Tymoshenko. It is also similar to some of the hairstyles worn by Frida Kahlo. A French braid, or French plait, is a type of braided hairstyle. The French braid includes three sections of hair that are braided together from the crown of the head to the nape of the neck. Variations on this hairstyle include the Dutch braid and the Fishtail braid.
